Salt, Food and Friends

Got tickets to the movie premiere of SALT last Wednesday, thanks to the Velvet channel :)   All we can say is that we love it; don't want to share more than that since I might ruin it for you.  It's a must-watch, next to Inception (for this month, that is).

IMG_4944
Here I am with hubby: wearing a Prada polo dress,
with grey wool peep-toe booties from Korea, and a Prada clutch.

We watched it with another couple who we hang out with a lot, and grabbed a bite at Lu after.
IMG_4946

We ordered two of their truffle mac 'n cheese. Sinful, isn't it? I'll definitely try their chorizo rice bowl next time. That looks yummy, too!
IMG_4948

This is how their mac 'n cheese looks like. Hubby and I enjoyed it immensely! The truffle oil smelled sooooo good! It was baked at the correct temperature, with the cheese not too creamy or soggy.
IMG_4949

We ended the night with this very rich cheesecake with lemon. Don't be fooled by the size, the serving was just right for the four of us ;)
IMG_4953

It was my first time at Lu, and I loved the place, the food and the ambience. The only thing I didn't like was that I smelled like used cooking oil the minute I stepped out of the restaurant. Most likely, because of the kitchen. And to think I was just admiring how transparent they are with their kitchen. Oh well... hope they can fix this problem soon, so I can bring my family to Lu :)

IMG_4954

Have a great weekend, everyone!
I'll be at the store today for shoots, will I see you there? ;)
And I'll most likely be at the Rockwell bazaar tomorrow to check out some goods. See you there, too? :D

Alcohol 101

Last weekend sure was packed for me.  I was under the weather since Wednesday last week, but I couldn't miss out on our intimate dinner set with the ol' Pink (teen magazine) gang at Ava's house:
IMG_4814
In photo (clockwise from bottom right): Aia of Imago, Ria Perez (who became close to the Pink gang), Ava Samson, me and Bebeth Timbol

There were boys, too! Here is Dix Perez (the only boy in the Pink gang) with Marco and hubby:
IMG_4815

Hubby and I don't drink, but I couldn't resist joining in. So I had 1/4 glass of white wine and 1/4 glass of this chocolate malt liquor that Bebeth bought from her recent Europe trip (on the rocks)—delicious!
IMG_4811

I don't know anything about alcohol, and I realized after drinking that my runny nose was clogged already. Apparently, I shouldn't be drinking when I'm not feeling well. Uh oh... oh well, I learned something new that night ;) The price of which, my hoarse voice and heavy head... Sigh! But it was worth it, because I got to hang out with good friends hehe...

Little J's Funny Face

It rained pretty hard yesterday, noh?  Little J was a well-behaved boy, despite the heavy downfall.  Here he is, looking all "don JJ" in the car, on the way to our regular Sunday lunch with my family:
IMG_4817
After which, we headed out to Santuario in Forbes for a baptismal that hubby is part of—he is ninong to little G. Merienda (or actually, early dinner) was served at Marciano's in Greenbelt 3.
IMG_4836
It is our first time there; here is a shot of the interiors:
IMG_4821
The lighted frames on the ceiling are a nice touch!
IMG_4820
Food was delicious, according to hubby and our nanny. I am a bit under the weather, and couldn't taste anything at all :(
IMG_4823
Little J is very friendly. He plays with all the kids, and lets adults carry him around, too! haha...
IMG_4819
Just had to share what I wore for the party. A beaded cropped top (that's so in-trend right now), paired with cropped mocha slacks, and peep-toe clogs :D I would wear them to work, but I might get a memo for showing off my "abs" haha...
IMG_4832
And finally, this photo cracks me up every time I look at it. Hopefully, it will make your day or week, too :D
IMG_4838

I can't stop laughing at Little J's goofy face—two of his teeth are slowly showing, too! Yipee!

Winning an Ipad :D

Yes, you read the title right :D But before I go into that, let me share with you where and how it happened.
IMG_4268
My parents and I (with hubby) were invited to a friend's wedding. The groom's parents are childhood friends with my parents, and coincidentally, I am friends with both the groom and the bride as well.

IMG_4269
My parents were seated at the groom's area, while hubby and I were seated at the bride's... in table 64 to be exact.

IMG_4271
It was a lovely wedding reception, with about 900 invitees. They even asked Aiza Seguerra to sing a few songs. Love her voice!

IMG_4266
Had a photo taken with very in-demand stylist (and schoolmate) Sidney Yap before dinner was served.

Hubby left to do some errands for his parents (long story), and so I was left alone at our table. Then, came the game: each table had a bar of chocolate that should be passed around. The person who's holding the chocolate once the music stops gets the chance to win an iPad. And guess who ended up holding the bar of chocolate? :D Out of the 90 tables, only 12 had neon orange stickers on the chocolates, and I was one of the lucky 12.

The host, Eva Poon, who coincidentally did my debut more than a decade ago ;) asked all 12 of us to go up the stage. The first person to go to the microphone and sing the song the groom (Aaron) used to propose to the bride (Jan) gets to bring home the iPad. I was all pumped up to win it—singing in front of a big audience is no biggie for me, as I used to compete back in school. As soon as the orchestra started playing the song, I went straight to the mic and sang along. Now, wasn't that easy? :) The song was "Forevermore," btw...

IMG_4272
Here I am with the host, Eva :) She kept saying she feels old every time she sees me, because she'd remember how young I was when she did my debut. But dear Eva, you look younger and sexier than ever! Don't feel old, 'coz if you do, I'll feel old too! ;)

IMG_4274
I immediately called hubby as soon as I got my iPad and went back to my table. This really made our night :D Here's a photo of what I had with me: the iPad, the bar of chocolates and my J. Lhuiller beaded bag which my parents bought for me from Shangri-la Mactan. Don't be fooled by the size of the bag, it can actually fit a lot of my stuff like 3 phones, my digicam and a lipstick ;)

Oh, and for this post, there are two things that are making me giddy all week or even all month long :D
IMG_4291
One, this lovely gown by Eric delos Santos.
A lot of ladies approached me that night, asking who made this gown. For orders and inquiries, you can get in touch with him at 0920-9264342. What I like about his gowns is that he puts bones to make sure you have good posture and that all those bulges are tucked in! Great for moms and lolas, too! Teehee...
IMG_4804
Two, the iPad that hubby and little J are enjoying.
I haven't had the chance to tinker with it yet, this weekend for sure :)

Congratulations, Aaron and Jan :D
Welcome to the club!

Shoe Splurge

My family went to Hong Kong last week. I couldn't join them, because I wasn't sure if I can leave since Forever 21 just opened.  I did get to shop with my mom at Duty Free last Saturday ;) We wanted to get these cute M&M dispensers (free if you buy 2 bags of M&Ms), but realized that they will just add to all that "junk" we have at home.  But don't you think they're soooo cute? :)

IMG_4250

Up the level where the luxury brand goods are, we saw more stuff on sale. We love checking out good buys and there were a lot of Bally and Ferragamo shoes being sold at 30-50% off.
IMG_4253

We ended up buying a pair each, at 50% off—good deals! :D I don't really need another pair of shoes, but you know how it is when you're with a shopping buddy.  And the true test? I don't regret buying it!
IMG_4252

Kinda obvious which one is mine, right? :)

Friends for Keeps

Last Friday was a packed one. I stayed at the store the whole day, but managed to do some errands over lunch.  Was supposed to have dinner at Cyma in Greenbelt with a few members of the ol' PINK gang, but had to finish up at the store.  Besides, I wasn't really looking forward to driving all the way to Makati on a Payday-Friday night :o

Got to Greenbelt around 10 p.m.and I was quite surprised with how busy Greenbelt 2 is again.  It was pretty packed!  It took as a while to get a table at Barcino's.  On our way up, I bumped into fellow editor and blogger Frances Amper-Sales.  She was there with a few of her colleagues as well---what a coincidence ;)  Too bad I wasn't able to take a photo with her :(

Here I am with the gang: me looking very tired, Ria and hubby Dix Perez (photographer), Bebeth Timbol and Ava Samson—there goes Ava again, goofing around ;)
IMG_4245

Now, I don't drink but I can manage a small glass of wine as long as I drink a lot of water.  I drank about 5 glasses that night :o just to make sure I'm still okay to drive home by myself haha...

And I made sure to eat a lot of tapas since I wasn't able to have a decent dinner:
IMG_4246

We called it quits by 1 a.m.—I was up since 8a.m. and Dix had shoots lined up the next day. Here's one last group shot with the girls :)
IMG_4247

It's been soooo long since we last hung out, and I sure am glad we were able to do it last Friday.
Miss the ol' PINK gang ;)

Purr-fect Engagement

Been busy with all the paperwork that had to be done. In between all that boring stuff, I'd check on Forever 21 Philippines Facebook page to answer all the queries.
IMG_3705
Here I am, typing away, with a studded tiger connector ring from Forever 21.
Fab, don't you agree? :) And the price? Super affordable!

IMG_3703
I'll be at the store the whole day today, will I be seeing you there too?
Hope so!
Have a great weekend, everyone! :D

Busy Day

Yesterday was definitely a busy one, despite classes being suspended.  Mine started at night, when the electricity was cut off.  We had to make sure little J continued to sleep soundly despite having no aircon.  Good thing we bought a rechargeable fan for him that lasted until he woke up at 5:30 a.m. Whew!

We had an appointment with his pedia set at 7:30 a.m., so I texted the doctor at 5:30 a.m. (still groggy, btw) to ask if she will open her clinic even if there was no electricity... she replied with a "yes."  So, off we went to St. Luke's:
IMG_3700
Here is little J having his ears cleaned by Dra. Kho. As of yesterday, he weighs 13 kgs and is 78.5 cm in length. Dra. Kho and her assistants are very amused with him, as they claimed that he is the "valedictorian" when it comes to the biggest baby this year—makes me one proud and happy mama ;)

As of this writing, we are at my in-laws' as they are the only ones who have electricity. We had to bring all our perishable food from the fridge to our in-law's here as well—better be safe than sorry, right? Hope you are all safe and sound, and that we all have electricity within 24 hours :o Take care, everyone!

Fun Graphics

Got a set of 2 bibs and a burping towel from Dwell Studio a few months back.  All three items have cute prints with a towel lining for easy absorption, which gets our yaya's seal of approval, too.  Here is little J looking all so "macho gwapito" with his DwellStudio bib.

I think it's safe to say that most of the moms I know love DwellStudio for their classy prints and color combinations. To find out more about Dwell Studio, click on this link :)

The Bee's Knees

Last Saturday was my first rest day since Forever 21 Launch Plan was on full blast for two weeks.  I spent the morning at the salon, and had my hair colored (my roots were showing already)—will work on that post soon :D  I was greeted with a "comfort" meal around 2 p.m. by hubby:
IMG_3638
What I love from Jollibee are their Burger Steak, Spaghetti and Hot Fudge Sundae; and hubby was able to buy me all of them. Yipee! :D

And speaking of Jollibee, I came across this video (posted by a friend in Facebook). Jollibee sure knows his dance moves ;) I love it every time he'd close his eyes when he does some trademark move—hilarious! Pardon the size of the video :0 I can't seem to resize it, but I do hope you'll still enjoy the clip as much as I did :)
Have a great week, everyone :D

Lunch Reward

I think I've lost a bit of weight over the Forever 21 launch period. Hubby was scared that I wasn't eating right, and thought I was too thin already.  Honestly, with so much stuff to do, I would end up not having dinner anymore.  But I made sure to have a good lunch though :)

On the day of the pre-opening VIP day (Thursday), Lou suggested we have lunch at this kebab place at 2nd floor of The Atrium (same floor where Forever 21 is).  We needed a place to work, and somewhere with good wi-fi access.  Btw, for those of you who do not know yet, the whole of SM Megamall has free wi-fi :D

IMG_3172
We ordered vegetable samosas, potato croquettes, nan (instead of rice) and their version of buttered chicken—all very yummy! And I had their bottomless iced tea which was really really good, btw! Aside from the sumptuous food, the owner was really nice as she let us occupy three tables for us to work with. Thank you again! :D

IMG_3173
Here I am with Lou, pre-event sans the makeup and trying to smile despite all the stress. We both think we deserved a good lunch and a pat on the back for all the time spent on planning the launch of Forever 21. I'm really grateful to have found a "sister" in the company who shares the same values as I do; she's such a great mentor, too! I really wouldn't have done it without you, Lou! *hugs*

Hoop, there it is!

Our nanny is usually more excited to open JJ's new stuff, most especially his birthday gifts.  We haven't opened most of them, as I prefer that we have something new everyda;)

IMG_3311
For tonight, it's this Little Tykes sports activity toy
from my sister-in-law's family.  Thanks, Dich! :D

Hubby is such a basketball fan, and this toy will help little J get interested in hubby's dream of being a basketball player.  But whatever little J wants to be, we're going to be happy for him.  We'll support him all the way :D

It's Official! :)

Last Friday, July 2, was the official first day of Forever 21 here in SM Megamall.  I got to the store close to 7 a.m. to check on our marketing collaterals to make sure they were installed/placed correctly.  By 9a.m., I was back in the store preparing 250 numbered stubs to give out to the first 250 customers to line up outside—we were giving them P200 voucher each, with no purchase requirement.  Cool, huh?

SM Megamall has agreed to open its doors by 930a.m. so that we can have a line outside.  As soon as the mall doors were opened, we could hear shrieking and running girls outside.  It gave me goosebumps :o

When I went outside, armed and ready with the free vouchers and stubs in my sling bag, I saw a very looooong line at the secondary hallway!  I was so shocked. I read a tweet that described it as "great wall of china," another one said it was "kilometric" hihi...

One of our visual merchandisers, Maribez, who was flown in from the U.S. head office saw me with the vouchers on my way out, and suggested that I be very careful.  Because the one who releases them in the U.S. gets trampled on or gets into some sort of accident.  I reassured her that I'll be fine, since I will have bouncers beside me ;)

Here I am with "kuya" bouncer, wearing a yellow dress and gray suede booties (not seen in photo) with this fabulous black acrylic multi-chain necklace from Forever 21, and my black Prada sling bag which stores all the free voucher for that morning.   Thanks to my "ate" at work, Lou who is the AVP for Marketing, who took this photo.  She's been a great help all throughout.

Taken at the pre-opening VIP event last Thursday.  One of the few breathers we got.

Thank you to everyone for visiting us this weekend. Do drop me a note here if you wanna say hi.  Will try to post more photos soon :)  Have a great week ahead, everyone!

Another Quickie Post

Got home close to midnight.  Yesterday was the Pre-Opening VIP launch of Forever 21 in SM Megamall.  It was packed with shoppers who didn't think twice on purchasing our clothes. They are super affordable, trust me ;)
Close to closing time (9 p.m.), I was able to ask our photographer, Daniel Tan, to take my photo. I'm loving my outfit, because I was able to look for the right clothes for this print-on-print ensemble from head to toe! :) Check this out:

IMG_3177

Will post more photos soon! Have to be up early again tomorrow. Forever21 is giving away P200 voucher (no purchase required) to the first 250 people to line up outside the store.

To get the latest updates, visit the Forever 21 Philippines facebook account by click on this ;)

Happy weekend, everyone :D
